We spent 4 nights at 88 Lodge in March 2009, enjoyed every minute. The room was excellent very clean and well appointed with direct access to the impressive gardens. Geoff and Chris were excellent hosts, and went above and beyond with the service. They were also spot on with their recommendations. We mentioned that we enjoyed golf and wine they sent us to a winery with a golf course We wanted to go dolphin watching, and they reserved a fabulous tour. We were looking to visit a beach, and they pointed us to an amazing hike into a completely secluded beach Breakfasts were fantastic, with fresh fruit from the garden. One morning, we were told Chris would be a few minutes, he was outside picking the oranges for our morning juice Everything added together, it was an excellent place from which to explore the north Highly recommended

The garden and pool great for relaxing after a day touring the area. Geoff's advice for our 2 days sightseeing made excellent use of our time. Chris provides a wonderful breakfast, his home made croissants as good as any we've had in France

Summary of Trip Advisor review by jj the jetsetter of Dartford, United Kingdom on 24/2/2009 We had found 88 Lodge through my pensioners magazine, and it lived up to and exceeded our expectations. We were 4 wks into our NZ tour and these 2 nights were a lovely change from the Motels we had stayed in previously. It was lovely to be in a splendid home, it was so clean and beautifully decorated, with an obviously passionate gardener in charge of the outside. Geoff and Chris were so helpful things to do and see/where to eat and so on. The property has been well described in other reviews, suffice it to say its lovely. Whilst the location is rural, you are very near to Kerikeri and the rest of this lovely coast. Convenient for the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, which should not be missed with their cultural show. Geoff and Chris recommended us to Cafe Cinema and Cafe Cilantro in Kerikeri and we had delightful splendid meals at both, albeit in totally different surroundings. Highly recommended.
