Bay of Islands diving
The local area is famous for its underwater beauty. The grandfather of the sport, Jacques Cousteau, rated it as in the top 10 dive destinations in the world - go for a dive here and find out why.
You can also dive the Rainbow Warrior - the infamous ex-flagship of Greenpeace which was blown up by French soldiers in Auckland Harbour. It was later towed up here to be sunk as a dive destination and is a great dive. Every year there's a above/below water memorial service at the site for the crewmember who was killed by the blast.
