Smithy

One game-fishing boat/skipper combination stands above the rest in the Bay of Islands and New Zealand, catching more big-game fish for their clients.

The boat is Striker, the Skipper - Bruce Smith (Smithy).

Smithy has been a Skipper for more than 25 years, running the 'new' Striker since its launch in the late 1990s.

Charter rate for the 2007/8 season

NZ$2800 plus GST per day, maximum 5 anglers, includes food, and gear.

The daily rate is the same for day trips, or overnight trips.

New World Record

The International Yellowtail Tournament, with some of the worlds best 6kg yellowtail kingfish fishers in attendance, was just held in the Bay of Islands.

Our team of Smithy (at the helm of Striker) and his son Mat (on the rod), gained a new World Record - 37.8kg Yellowtail Kingfish on 6kg line.

Another great team effort, making it 6 light-tackle Kingfish World records achieved by anglers fishing with Smithy on Striker.
