A lively backpackers with friendly staff, the Pipi Patch is close to the beach and town.Often full of locals catching up on the latest rugby match, the bar is a good place to meet some friendly kiwis, if you can take the piss-taking, antipodean-style, of your national team being mown down by the All Blacks!

Outside the Pipi Patch bar is a nightly barbecue, open to guests and visitors alike. For folks staying at the hostel, there's a small pool out the back. The Pipi Patch also has a travel center which can hook you up with all your onward travel deals.

With comfy and clean ensuites and shared rooms, is only two minutes walk to Paihia pier, shops and cafes.

Check out our spa and pool, hit the sundeck, have a feed at our tasty barbecue (every night, youre invited!) or explore the Bay of Islands.

Pipi Patch has loads of great things going for it and modern facilities. Chat to our friendly crew to ensure that you experience the best of the bay.

We've all experienced the activities ourselves so come and quiz us!

We've also got a busy bar (meet the locals and hang with fellow travellers), a travel booking service, tv lounge, kitchen and more!

Te Hiku O Te Ika, or 'The Tail of the Fish', is the Maori name for the area. This refers to the legendary Maui pulling a huge fish from the ocean, which then became the North Island of NZ.

This part of the country is steeped in culture and amazing scenery, and also full of great things to do!

Keep exploring Northland - authentic NZ, friendly hard-case locals, and more beaches than you can count!

North from Paihia to Kerikeri there are plenty of seasonal fruit picking jobs, and then onwards to Kaitaia.

Westwards is the famous 90 Mile Beach, actually a public road, and on the east coast you'll find a curving white sand bay.

Make a booking to stay at the Pipi Patch Lodge, and begin your Northern NZ adventure!
