Cape Brett WalkwaysCape Brett Walkways access hiking tracks on the Cape Brett peninsula, on both Department of Conservation and Maori Trust land.
Our experienced guides like to share their knowledge and appreciation of nature, Maori history and culture.
Cape Brett was named by the Maori as Rakaumangamanga mai Hawaiiki, 'branch of many tribes', with the seven main peaks that mark the peninsula's spine representing the seven waka (canoes) from the great Maori migration from Hawaiiki.
The views are stunning - spectacular seascapes viewed from the forested ridges, dramatic cliff-side walks, with fish and bird life below. It's not unusual to see dolphins and seals close to shore.
Cape Brett Walkways Ltd is privileged to have sole access to private walking tracks in this conservation estate, as well as to the people who have inhabited it for over a thousand years.
We'd like to offer you the opportunity to take guided walks in this special place, where nature, culture and people come together in a fusion of energetic outdoor activity, awesome scenery, history and storytelling. The walks take from two hours to two days over easy to moderate terrain and suitable for people of all ages so long as they are fit and healthy. We'll take care of the spirit and the appetite.
Cape Brett Walkways Ltd and our operators is fully licensed and trained for our trips - however, we do recommend comprehensive travel insurance to cover all events.
Most of the walks go across easy terrain, although there are moderate to difficult parts - hence a reasonable standard of fitness is required, as is a pair of strong walking shoes, warm clothing, and a lightweight day pack.
